Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the opponent down with an ankle pick, after attempting a sweep. Lucas starts with the opponent in his half guard and slides his knee in for a knee shield. He grips the cross collar and uses his forearm to make the opponent create space so he can now place his knee higher up, on the shoulder. Lucas breaks the grip that the opponent had on the pants and pushes that arm down. In this variation, Lucas attempts to roll over his shoulder to sweep the opponent. The opponent defends by keeping his weight back. Lucas now releases the grip on the sleeve and under hooks the near side leg. From here, Lucas pushes the opponent to the side and uses his leg on the inside of the far side leg to push the opponent. The opponent stands up, Lucas then also stands up and then reaches for the ankle to pull it up and takes the opponent down.
