Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get an armbar in the crucifix position. The opponent goes for a single leg or double leg take down, and Lucas immediately sprawls pushing the head down to the mat. Lucas moves to the side and seat belt grips over the back. He places his inside knee underneath the opponent's arm to lift it. He then loops his outside leg over the arm to isolate it. He now puts his bottom leg forward while he maintains the arm hooked with his top leg. Lucas now falls back pulling the opponent with him. In this scenario, Lucas attempts to choke the opponent from this position but the opponent defends. Lucas instead lowers his feet to the mat, slightly opens his knee and arches up to get the armbar with his legs. If the opponent twists his arm and bridges to defend, Lucas immediately unlocks his leg and slides underneath the opponent to take the back control. As he transitions, he makes sure to keep the arm trapped so he can then finish with the rear naked choke.
