Guard Pull to Armbar Variation when Opponent Defends (Intermediate)

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to pull guard and get the armbar when the opponent defends. Lucas is controlling the collar in the sleeve. He places his foot on the opposite side hip of the controlling arm. He falls to the ground while maintaining the foot on the hip and spins on his back as he pulls the arm down. This momentum allows Lucas to bring his outside foot over the head to get the armbar. In this variation, Lucas is not able to finish the armbar from this position because the opponent stacks to defend. Lucas slides his outside arm over the opponent’s and cups his own thigh. The other hand is used to grip the opponent’s near side leg. He uses that leg to pull the opponent in so he can then reach for the far side leg. Lucas now pushes the opponent forward and finishes the armbar from the top.
