Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get a collar choke from the back, after attempting a single leg takedown. Lucas has the collar and the sleeve control. He raises the opponent’s elbow and moves in for a single leg. Lucas attempts to take the opponent down, but the opponent resists and starts to defend by gripping Lucas’ back by the belt. As soon as the opponent grips the belt, Lucas releases the leg, pulls down on the collar and slides his head to the outside. He now goes around the opponent’s back to the other side while still controlling the collar. He uses his other hand to control the opponent’s hips or arm to prevent the opponent from turning around to face Lucas. Lucas can’t slide his leg over and under because the opponent blocks him. Lucas instead, grips the back of the leg near the knee. He sits down and extends his leg to trap the opponent’s far side foot. This makes the opponent fall back. Lucas makes sure to keep a grip on the leg to prevent the opponent from turning. In this variation, the opponent does not let Lucas bring the leg over to the mount position. Lucas instead slides up, putting the forehead on the mat, his top hand goes to grip the collar and his knee is placed in between the opponent’s elbow and leg. He shifts his hips and uses his weight to sink his knee in. Once it’s in, Lucas uses the leg to pull the opponent back so he can secure the back take. From here, Lucas then finishes with the collar choke.
