Professor Frederico Silva teaches how to escape from an armbar attempt. The opponent starts on the mount position and tries to go for the armbar on Frederico. The first thing Frederico does is grip his own hands together. Once the opponent brings the leg over, Frederico slides his elbow under the near side leg to push it down and then uses his legs to trap the opponent’s leg. He then clears his head and bridges over the other leg to trap it. Frederico then turns and goes to the side control or half guard. If the opponent abandons the arm after Frederico clears his head, then Frederico can go to the deep half guard instead.
