Description

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates how to defend against an opponent as he transitions from various open guard-passes to side control by shifting his base to put his back toward Lucas’ face. This situation begins with the opponent attempting a knee cut pass. The opponent decides to let his hip fall to the floor to back step the leg out of Lucas’ guard. Lucas grips the opponent’s belt and pants, then opens his guard to release the opponent’s leg and allow him to complete his transition to side control. When the opponent back steps, Lucas bridges with one leg, lifting his hips as he turns to the side. When his opponent pushes into Lucas, Lucas pulls him into his guard, where he is able to shrimp backward and use the grips to complete a back take.
