Butterfly Sweep Defense Variation to Side Control (Advanced)

January 16, 2019 on 12:32 310 3

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows variation on how to get to the opponent’s side control when the opponent attempts a sweep from the butterfly guard. The opponent starts to sweep Lucas and Lucas immediately posts out with his legs and uses his head to base on the mat. As soon as he does this, Lucas then jumps over to the opposite side. When he comes back, he slides his knee thru and smashes the opponent’s legs. Depending on where Lucas’ knee lands is how he transitions to the side control. If his knee lands behind the opponent's knee, he drops his hips and slides to the side control. If his knee lands in front of the opponent’s knee, then he brings his other leg around and uses it to push the opponent’s leg up and then he slides to the side control.
