Closed Guard Double Ankle Sweep to Triangle Submission (Fundamentals)

April 11, 2018 on 12:55 569 4

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates a double ankle sweep when an opponent stands up in the closed guard. In this situation, the opponent stands while gripping Lucas’ lapels. Lucas maintains his grips on both of the opponent’s sleeves until he is standing. Keeping the closed guard locked, he releases the sleeves and grips both of the opponent’s ankles. He unlocks the closed guard and lifts his hips while pinching his knees together to sweep the opponent. In this situation, as the opponent sits up and posts one arm on the floor, the opponent attempts to block Lucas from transitioning to the mount by extending his other arm. Lucas uses a far-side collar grip to keep the opponent trapped as he transitions to the triangle, first locking his legs and then bringing the opponent down on top of him where he adjusts the triangle to complete the submission.
