Closed Guard Pass to Side Control (Fundamentals)

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to open and pass a closed guard. Lucas places his hands on the opponent’s ribs and keeps his elbows open over the opponent's hips. He then stands up and slides one knee in between the opponent’s legs. As he brings his knee in, he adjusts his elbows and pushes the opponent’s hips away while putting his own hips back to make the opponent open the guard. The opponent tries to recompose the guard by shrimping out and circling his leg over. Lucas underhooks the leg and drags it to the other side. He underhooks the opponent’s arm, moves to the side, and establishes the side control position.
