Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates how to get the kimura submission from the closed guard, after attempting to sweep the opponent with the hip bump sweep. Lucas has the opponent in his closed guard. He tries to sweep him with the hip bump sweep when the opponent postures up and places his hands on the mat. Lucas sits up and reaches over the opponent’s arm to trap it. He places one leg next to the opponent’s and uses his other to push off the mat. He raises his hips and bumps the opponent as he sweeps with his legs. In this scenario, the opponent posts his arm out and Lucas can’t finish the hip bump sweep. Instead, Lucas locks the kimura on the arm and leans back and get the submission.
