Professor Donovan Espinosa teaches how to get the triangle choke submission, after first attempting a straight arm lock from the closed guard. Donovan has the opponent in his closed guard. He breaks the posture down and reaches over the opponent’s shoulder and under the arm to grip his hands together. Donovan now shifts his hips out to the side and brings his other arm over the opponent’s head to push the neck away. He now hip escapes a little more so he can place his inside leg on the hip and the other leg on the opponent’s shoulder. In this scenario, the opponent uses his free hand to post on the mat and push against Donovan to defend. Donovan slides his bottom leg out and over the opponents’ shoulder. He locks his legs together and lifts his hips up so he can slide the opponent’s arm across. He then brings his hips down to lock the triangle with his legs and finishes the submission.
