Professor Lucas Lepri shows a De La Riva sweep to establish back control. Beginning in the De La Riva guard with pants and sleeve grips, when the opponent pushes his legs down, Lucas crosses his feet behind the opponent’s knee. Using his legs, Lucas bumps his opponent so that the opponent steps forward with his free leg. At this point, Lucas releases the sleeve grip and underhooks the opponent’s leg, cupping the knee. Lucas puts his inside knee against the opponent’s leg and uses it to create space to put the foot of his outside leg on the inside of the opponent’s knee. Pushing with his legs, Lucas forces the opponent to base. Only then does he release the pants grip and continue to push with his legs, causing the opponent to move away and leaving space for a technical stand up, all the while maintaining his grip around the opponent’s knee. Making a gable grip around the knee, Lucas then stands and walks backward while pulling the opponent’s knee down. Then, releasing the leg, Lucas then hugs the opponent’s back to establish back control.
