De La Riva Lapel Guard Escape (Advanced)

February 04, 2018 on 12:00 478 3

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to escape from the De La Riva lapel guard and set up a pass. When the opponent threads his arm behind Lucas' leg and establishes a grip on the same-side lapel, Lucas immediately pushes the opponent's De La Riva hook downward, drives his lead knee inward slightly, and then forcefully breaks the opponent's grip on his lapel. He is careful to maintain a tall posture throughout the technique to prevent the opponent from advancing any higher with his lapel grip. Once he breaks the grip, Lucas can pass with a leg drag or by driving his lead knee forward and clubbing to grip around the opponent's head.
