Professor Lucas Lepri shows a De La Riva pass to side control when the opponent tries to defend by gripping the neck. Lucas starts by pushing both of the opponent’s legs down, placing one hand on the knee and the other on the ankle. He lowers his base and the opponent grips his neck to try to defend the pass. Lucas releases the grip on the ankle and grips the same side knee. He pushes the knee open as he releases the other grip on the knee and goes for the same side underhook. Once in this position, Lucas cuts his knee through and posts with the hand used to push the knee open. He then connects his hands together and establishes the side control position.
