Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to sweep the opponent, starting from the de la riva using a modified x guard. Lucas has the de la riva and the opponent pushes the top leg down. Lucas immediately locks his feet together behind the leg and uses them to push the opponent forward to unbalance. With the opponent posting out, Lucas now reaches for the far side leg and under hooks. In this variation, the opponent posts the knee on the mat preventing Lucas from pushing forward. Lucas pinches his legs together to prevent the opponent from sliding the leg out and releases the grip on the pants, so he can reach under the foot and re-grip the pants on the other side. The hand that was under hooking the far side leg is now used to grip the collar. Lucas elevates his legs and pushes the opponent so he can transition to the x guard. From here, Lucas pushes the opponent away and uses the momentum to come up. He then sweeps and gets to the knee on belly.
