Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a variation on how to sweep the opponent using the shin to shin. Lucas starts in the open guard and goes for the de la riva. He uses the foot on the hip to push the opponent away and slides his other leg down to trap the ankle. Lucas now sits up and reaches for the lapel control. The opponent tries to defend by pushing Lucas back. Lucas immediately reacts by shrimping his hips out and slides his foot in, to the shin to shin position. In this variation, the opponent again tries to defend by posturing up to prevent Lucas from sweeping. As the opponent posture up, Lucas uses his inside foot to trap the opponent’s far side ankle. Lucas pushes the opponent down and immediately goes for the knee cut pass.
