Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from an opponent's side control and recover guard. Lucas begins by establishing a frame with his wrist in front of the opponent's neck and the elbow of his other arm hidden and blocking the opponent's hip. He then executes a high bridge while opening his elbow, forcing the opponent to post and allowing Lucas to block the opponent's arm and shrimp away to create space. Lucas then brings his legs in one at a time, using the bottom knee to block the opponent's hips and his top leg to block the opponent's shoulder. He finishes the guard recovery technique by squaring his hips with the opponent and establishing either open or closed guard.
