Escape to the Back from Side Control (Advanced)

January 04, 2018 on 12:00 406 8

Description

Professor Lucas Lepri explains how to escape from a tight side control to the opponent's back. The situation begins with the opponent holding Lucas in side control position with a strong grip around his head and arm. To begin the escape, Lucas performs a high bridge and opens his elbow, forcing the opponent to post in order to avoid rolling. Lucas then blocks the opponent's biceps with the hand that was previously blocking the hips, and if possible he shrimps to create space and bring his knee inside. If the opponent applies pressure to prevent Lucas from bringing his knee inside, then Lucas quickly circles his elbow inside, secures the underhook, and rocks to escape to the opponent's back.
