Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get the armbar or triangle after an omoplata sweep. Lucas starts standing with the collar and sleeve control. He steps to the side and places his foot on the opponent’s hip to pull guard. The opponent reacts by trying to walk to the side. Lucas takes advantage of this and closes his guard on the opponent, while the opponent is still standing. Lucas now changes the grip on the sleeve and uses his other arm to under hook the opponent’s near side ankle. He now uses his hips to push the opponent to the side as he pulls on the ankle in an attempt to sweep the opponent back. In this scenario, the opponent defends by using his knee to keep his base. Lucas immediately opens his guard and locks his leg over the shoulder for an omoplata. He uses the omoplata set up to sweep the opponent. After he sweeps the opponent, Lucas maintains the grip on the arm. He briefly goes to the s-mount and then immediately to the armbar. If the opponent tries to defend by coming up, then Lucas can also get the triangle.
