Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the opponent’s half guard and get a lapel choke. Lucas starts in the opponent’s half guard. He immediately under hooks the opponent’s far side arm before they are able to also under hook. Lucas now controls the head with his other arm and applies pressure to keep the opponent flat on the mat. He now takes the opponent’s lapel out and feeds it to the hand behind the head. In this variation, Lucas is not able to under hook the opponent’s arm, because the opponent under hooks Lucas first. Lucas replaces the grip on the collar with his other hand. He now reaches over the head to grip the same lapel with his previous hand. He now bends his elbow in and applies pressure to get the lapel choke.
