Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to pass the opponent's half guard to side control, when they apply the knee shield. The situation start with Lucas in the opponent’s half guard. The opponent pushes Lucas up and applies the knee shield to prevent him from passing. Lucas grips the opponent’s far side collar with one hand and grips the bottom knee going under the knee shield. Lucas lifts his outside knee and cuts it in over the opponent’s shin. As he starts moving in, the opponent pushes on him. Lucas looks in the direction of the opponent’s legs and brings his outside knee to the hips. He then releases the grip on the pants, blocks the hips and establishes the side control position.
