Professor Lucas Lepri describes some options for submitting an opponent with the Kimura grip from side control. Lucas first passes his arm behind the opponent's triceps and moves into north-south position before securing the Kimura grip. From here Lucas can apply the Kimura submission, the armbar submission, or the step over Kimura submission. For the step over Kimura, Lucas steps over the opponent's body and falls back to the mat. He then extends his body to free the arm and apply the Kimura, or else he uses his leg behind the opponent's neck to push and force the opponent to roll. In this case Lucas sits on the opponent in a reverse s-mount and then applies the Kimura submission.
