Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to prevent the opponent from transitioning to a leg lock, while he is trying to pass using the knee cut pass. Lucas goes for the knee cut pass and the opponent tries to defend by circling his top leg over Lucas’ arm and leg. This would put the opponent in a position where he can transition to a leg lock. Lucas immediately pushes on the hip and blocks the bottom arm as he maintains his outside leg away from the opponent’s reach. The hand that was on the arm is now placed on the mat and Lucas uses his other hand to grip the knee and push the opponent’s leg down and away. He now moves to the side where he can finish on the side control position. If the opponent starts to turn, then he can also take the back control.
