Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows an inverted sweep to side control starting with the open guard with no grips while the opponent is standing. Starting in the open guard with no grips, Lucas underhooks the near-side leg and gets inverted. He uses the back of his lower outside leg to push the back of the opponent’s knee, and his inside leg to pull on the front of the opponent’s upper thigh. He reaches with his free hand and grips the back of the opponent’s belt or pants. Now Lucas uses his grips and legs to force the opponent to fall forward onto his side. Lucas stays up on his elbow and reaches to grip the opponent’s far-side collar and puts his leg back to prevent a leg attack. From here, Lucas is able to to complete the transition to side control, maintaining his grips the entire time.
