Description

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates an omoplata submission starting with a De La Riva hook and his other foot on the opponent’s shoulder. Lucas begins with sleeve and collar grips on the side of the De La Riva hook. He extends his legs to separate the opponent’s elbow and knee, which allows him to remove the hook and kick his leg up to place the ankle over the opponent’s shoulder and lock the legs in a figure four. In this situation, the opponent reacts by applying pressure with a knee on belly and possibly also pull Lucas’ hips off the ground. Lucas switches hands on the collar grip, gripping with the thumb down. Then he unlocks his legs and hooks the opponent’s knee as he drives his legs down and rolls belly down with the opponent. When he comes back up, Lucas uses his free hand to hook the opponent’s other leg and scoots his hips toward the opponent’s head if needed to sit up straight. He finishes the submission by releasing the collar and grabbing his own knee, pulling it toward him as he leans back and away from the opponent’s head.
