Description

Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the back using the matrix when the opponent steps back. . Lucas starts in the open guard and moves in to isolate the opponent’s lapel. Lucas pulls the lapel out and goes for the de la riva on that same side. He feeds the lapel to his other hand and then grips the same side collar as high as he can. Lucas now pushes the opponent away to unbalance him. As the opponent comes back, Lucas immediately releases the de la riva hook and slides his knee inside the opponent’s leg. He releases the grip on the collar and uses his outside leg to pendulum around, placing his outside foot behind the opponent’s knee immediately gripping the back of the pants. In this variation, when Lucas gets to the matrix the opponent attempts to defend by stepping back. Lucas immediately reacts by bringing his top leg in and places it behind the opponent’s legs. He now uses his outside hand to reach the opponent’s other leg. Lucas starts to turn underneath the opponent and pushes him down to take the back. From here, Lucas finishes from the back position.
