Lucas teaches how to get the omoplata after the opponent defends an omoplata and shoulder lock. Lucas starts with the open guard and the opponent grips Lucas’ pants or belt. Lucas grips the sleeves and raises his hips to try and get the Omoplata submission, but the opponent defends by posturing up and grips the back of Lucas’ pants. Lucas counters by raising his hips once again and slides his outside foot under the opponent’s leg to hook it. He now moves his hips back to try and finish the shoulder lock, but the opponent defends by removing Lucas’ hook and steps back. The opponent now pushes Lucas back and Lucas reaches under the arm to secure the opponent. From here, Lucas can finish the omoplata from behind the opponent.
