Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the side control position and recompose the guard. The opponent has Lucas in the side control position. Lucas starts to defend by framing under the chin and grips the shoulder with the same arm. He uses his other hand under the opponent’s arm to grip the back of the same shoulder. Lucas brings his knee up to help him escape. He uses his knee to push the opponent away as he also pushes the shoulder to hide his head under the opponent. When he pushes the opponent away, he circles his knee in to recompose the guard.
