Professor Lucas Lepri shows a how to get the triangle submission from side control by trapping the opponent using their lapel. As Lucas is in the side control position the opponent uses his arm to frame. Lucas uses his head and neck to collapse the opponent’s arm that is being used to frame. Lucas then uses his left hand to pull out the opponent’s lapel and feeds over the opponent’s collapsed arm to his right hand. Once in this position Lucas uses his right knee to isolate the opponent’s left arm, bringing his knee up to the opponent’s back, and postures up. He then uses his left hand to grab the outside part of the opponent’s left knee to push it to the ground in front of him. The opponent now has no way of using his hands or knees to block Lucas. Lucas swings his left knee over the opponent, placing it over the opponent’s neck. As he swings his leg over, he releases the grip on the outside knee. Once he has his leg over, he releases the grip on the lapel and grips his own shin. Lucas then rolls forward while still holding his shin and then brings his other leg over his leg, locking the triangle on the opponent.
