Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates a basic single leg takedown. Beginning with regular Judo grips, Lucas releases the opponent’s sleeve and circles his arm in order to be able to reach the leg. He falls to one knee as he under hooks the same-side leg and grips his own collar. Standing up, he traps the opponent’s foot between his knees and braces his head against the opponent’s ribs. He then walks backward and the opponent defends by posting both hands on the mat. Lucas immediately releases the leg and steps to the other side while still holding the collar grip. He then grips the arm with his other hand and puts the first hook in of the same side he is holding the arm. He then releases the grip on the arm and reaches for the opposite collar. Lucas then pushes the opponent down and brings his other hook in as the opponent is on the mat. Lucas then establishes the back control position.
