Description

Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to counter a single leg takedown with a loop choke submission. The situation begins standing with the opponent having a same-side collar grip and a sleeve grip. The opponent releases the sleeve and hooks Lucas’ leg in the single leg, maintaining his collar grip. Lucas immediately establishes a far-side collar grip. He demonstrates one escape, where he lifts his elbow and turns to kick his leg free. The other option requires the opponent to either release the collar grip or have the grip broken. Lucas uses his far-side collar grip to push the opponent away, then pull him toward him and hopping to trap the opponent’s head under his armpit. Lucas uses his other arm to pull the opponent’s elbow open and tucks his head under the opponent’s arm as he turns and sits. As Lucas attempt to roll over the opponent to complete the choke, the opponent turns on his side and Lucas comes up with the opponent and stops the opponent’s escape by putting his arm between the opponent’s legs to block the hips. Lucas completes the choke by sprawling to push the opponent’s back toward the mat and turning his hips away from his opponent’s head.
