Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get the triangle submission starting from the side control, when the opponent applies the under hook and tries to escape. Lucas has the opponent on his side control position. The opponent tries to escape by under hooking Lucas. As soon as the opponent goes for the under hook, Lucas drops his chest on the shoulder to place pressure on him. He places his arm underneath the opponent’s under hook and behind the neck with his palm facing out. He brings his outside knee in behind the opponent’s head. His other arm is brought in front of the opponent as he shifts his hips to the other side trapping the arm with the hand that was behind the neck. Lucas then brings his knees in and secures the side control position. From here, the opponent tries to defend by framing. Lucas grips his arm and pins it on the mat. The opponent then tries to defend by bringing his arm back and Lucas releases the pressure on the arm so the opponent can move it. As Lucas lets the opponent bring their arm back, Lucas then pins it on the opponent’s chest. With the arm pinned to the chest, Lucas now brings his leg over the opponent and grips his own shin. He tucks his other foot against the opponent’s back so he can start rolling backwards. Lucas now under hooks the opponent’s arm and starts rolling back. As he is rolling, he brings his other leg over and locks the triangle. He then connects his hands together and squeezes his arms, finishing the submission.
