Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the turtle position when the opponent is trying to take the back. Lucas is in the turtle position and the opponent is on the side with both arms around the waist. Lucas protects his neck to prevent the opponent from securing the seat belt grips. Lucas now grips the arm opposite to the opponent’s legs. He starts to roll over his shoulder and then immediately reaches for the far side leg. Lucas turns the opponent over controlling the leg and immediately controls the other leg after the roll. From here, Lucas then transitions to the side control.
