Description

Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get the armbar after passing with a long step when the opponent has the reverse de la riva. Lucas moves in for a knee cut pass. The opponent reacts by gripping Lucas’s near side ankle and going to reverse de la riva. Lucas makes sure to grab the opponent's shin on the de la riva side and grips the collar with his other hand. He starts to pass by dropping his knee and falling to the side, in line with the opponents hips. He takes a long step back with his top leg, breaking the opponent's grip by kicking the leg back as he moves to the side. Lucas moves the grip from the shin, to the bottom leg. In this scenario, the opponent tries to frame and turn in. Lucas immediately spins to the other side and goes for the seat belt grip. He pulls the opponent so he can get his hooks in and control the back. The opponent protects their neck to prevent a rear naked choke. Lucas instead isolates the bottom arm and pushes the opponent down with his legs. This allows Lucas to leverage the arm out and to bring his leg over the head for the armbar submission.
