Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get a triangle choke or armbar, by using the de la riva to make the opponent post out. Lucas starts with the de la riva controlling the pants and collar. Lucas pulls the opponent in and then pushes him to the side lifting the opponent’s leg with the pants grip. This makes the opponent post on the mat with his far side hand. Lucas now places his outside foot on the opponent’s hips and he circles his inside leg under and over the far side shoulder. He immediately connects his legs together while still maintaining the grip on the collar. Lucas reaches for his shin to adjust so he can lock the triangle choke. If the opponent attempts to posture up to defend, then Lucas just goes for the armbar.
