Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get the back control after attempting to take the opponent down using a single or double leg takedown. Lucas shoots for the double leg and the opponent defends by sprawling. He immediately reaches for the single leg but the opponent is still able to defend by keeping the leg away. Lucas now bases his outside leg while still controlling the single leg and then steps in, stepping over the opponent’s leg in a half guard position. He now reaches for the hips and controls the opponent. The opponent tries to defend by over hooking Lucas’s arm. Lucas is able to push the opponent with his shoulder making the opponent release the over hook to post on the mat. This now allows Lucas to come up on top while the opponent resorts to the turtle position. From here, Lucas reaches under the far side arm and then brings his other arm over the back of the head to connect his hands together with the half Nelson. Lucas now uses this control to pull the opponent back to get the back control.
