Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get a head and arm choke, after attempting to take the opponent down using a single or double leg takedown. Lucas shoots for the double leg and the opponent defends by sprawling. He immediately reaches for the single leg but the opponent is still able to defend by keeping the leg away. Lucas now bases his outside leg while still controlling the single leg and then steps in, stepping over the opponent’s leg in a half guard position. He now reaches for the hips and controls the opponent. The opponent tries to defend by over hooking Lucas’s arm. Lucas is able to push the opponent with his shoulder making the opponent release the over hook to post on the mat. This now allows Lucas to come up on top while the opponent resorts to the turtle position. In this variation, the opponent tries to escape the position by turning into Lucas. Lucas releases the hook on the foot and uses that leg to post out. He now brings his inside arm in between the opponent’s arms and slides it behind the opponent’s neck. He maintains pressure over the shoulder with his head and connects his hands together. From here, Lucas finishes in the Kata Gatame position.
