Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from a position where he is in the half guard and the opponent changes the base. When the opponent is in this position, Lucas makes sure to control the back and waist using his arms and elbows. He uses them to frame and block, preventing the opponent from progressing on the position. Lucas now shifts his hips to the side and bumps the opponent back. This motion makes the opponent remove the leg and posts it out on the mat. Lucas uses this opening to slide his knee in and pull the opponent in the other direction. From here, Lucas is able to take the back.
