Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to escape from the opponent’s half guard and get the Kimura submission. Lucas is in the opponent's half guard and he immediately under hooks the arm and clubs the back with his other hand. He starts to escape by applying shoulder pressure over the neck. He then brings his knees together and shifts his hips to the side. Lucas uses the shoulder pressure and the grip on the shoulder blade to prevent the opponent from turning. Lucas pushes the opponent’s leg down so he can slide his knee in, but the opponent pushes Lucas’ leg back into the half guard. Lucas attempts it again but this time, he grips the opponent’s arm. He now brings his other arm over to the side and slides it under the opponent’s arm connecting it to his wrist to get the kimura grips. Lucas now leans to the side so he can slide his leg out. From here, Lucas moves to the north south position and finishes the kimura submission.
