De La Riva Escape and Knee Cut Pass to Back Take (Advanced)

Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates a De La Riva guard pass to the back take position. Lucas first establishes a same side collar grip on the side where his leg is trapped by his opponent’s De La Riva hook. With his other hand, he pushes down the opponent’s hook and back steps. Lucas posts his hand on the mat while maintaining the collar grip and cuts his knee, then pivots and uses his shoulder on the opponent’s hip to maintain pressure. Then opponent then tries to defend by pushing on Lucas and turns towards him. Lucas pushes back on the opponent and as soon as he feels him react, he jumps over the opponent and establishes the back take.
