Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to get to the mount position with a butterfly sweep, after attempting a half guard sweep. Lucas has the opponent in his half guard and the opponent switches his base. As soon as the opponent changes the base, Lucas hooks the leg with his outside foot and grips the opponent’s knee. Lucas then bridges over his shoulder as he raises the opponent’s leg. In this scenario, the opponent defends by stepping back and posting with his foot. Lucas instead recomposes and gets to the butterfly guard. From here, Lucas traps both arms or one arm and the belt so he can push the opponent away and gets the sweep to the mount position.
