Professor Lucas Lepri shows a Kimura or armbar submission when the opponent prevents him from passing with a knee cut pass. The opponent is playing open guard while Lucas is standing. Lucas steps forward and goes for the opponent’s under hook while bringing his other arm over the opponent’s head to the mat, keeping his weigh on the opponent. As Lucas tries to slide his knee through, the opponent traps it and prevents him from passing. Lucas then steps over the opponent’s head with the leg that is free and places it against the opponent’s back. Once he steps over, he straightens his trapped leg. If the opponent tries to push him to the other side, Lucas uses his knee against the opponent’s hip to prevent him from rolling him over. Lucas goes for the Kimura grip and tries to finish the submission. The opponent resists and Lucas then brings his trapped knee over the opponent making him place his back on the mat. Lucas does a front roll over the opponent, turning him upside down while still holding the Kimura grips. As Lucas lands on his own back, he is able to get the Kimura submission on the opponent. If the opponent also rolls to defend the Kimura, then Lucas can also go for an armbar submission. He makes sure to take his leg out from underneath the opponent, brings it over him and straightens his arm to get the armbar submission.
