Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the back, after attempting a sweep from the deep half guard. Lucas starts with the opponent trying to pass and uses the knee shield to block the opponent. He controls the sleeve and cross grips the same side collar. Lucas sits up and drops his knee so he can under hook that same side and grips the back of the pants. The hook on the opponent’s leg is now switched so Lucas can trap the opponent. Lucas now under hooks the other leg and bridges up to make the opponent release the collar grip and post on the mat. The arm that was under hooking the leg is now taken out and Lucas slides his head out to the side. He reaches for the collar grip and then hip escapes to the side so he can take the back from there.
