Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a variation to a lapel guard escape and passes to the side control. Lucas is standing and the opponent starts to pull on the lapel under the leg and switches the grips. Lucas is not able to create space by moving back. The opponent is able to invert and under hooks Lucas’ leg. In this variation, the opponent is able to push Lucas forwards making him fall. Lucas now slides his bottom knee under the armpit so he can push the opponent’s arm away. He then circles his top leg in. Lucas now jumps over the opponent and goes for the side control position.
