Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to take the opponent's back after attempting a De La Riva sweep. Lucas is playing the open guard and transitions to the De La Riva. The foot from the De La Riva hook is now brought over and placed on the hip so Lucas can push the opponent to the side. The opponent defends by turning his knee in. Lucas removes the foot from the bicep and places it behind the opponent's knee. Lucas now reaches for the pants and moves his hips back so he can then pull the opponent towards him. He places his other hook in and finishes taking the opponent’s back.
