Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get an armbar or triangle from a half lasso position. Lucas starts with the open guard and reaches for both of the opponent’s sleeves. He pulls guard and goes for the half lasso on one side and the spider on the other side. The opponent tries to defend by placing the knee on the back of Lucas’ leg. Lucas removes the opponent's knee by releasing the half lasso and uses that leg to push the knee off as he pulls the same side sleeve in. Lucas now immediately raises his hips and locks his legs over the opponent’s shoulder making sure he points his knee in towards the head. From this position, Lucas can go for the armbar. If the opponent attempts to defend by opening the arm, then Lucas just goes for the regular triangle.
