Professor Lucas Lepri explains a method for sweeping an opponent and passing to side control from the shin-to-shin sit up guard. The situation begins with Lucas catching the opponent’s leg, shrimping out, and putting his hook in to get in the shin-to-shin sit-up guard. Lucas falls to his shoulder as he lifts his opponent using the trapped leg. As soon as the opponent posts with his arms, Lucas cups the back of the opponent’s ankle with his free hand. Lucas continues to lift the opponent as he turns into him, reaching around to grip the same leg at the same time. He continues to turn into the opponent to complete the sweep. From here he pushes the opponent’s knees to the side and completes the transition to side control.
