Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get to the side control, after preventing a sweep from the opponent, when the opponent recomposes and tries again. The opponent starts in the spider guard and then releases one sleeve so he can grip the lapel. He then pulls Lucas to unbalance so he can sweep or transition to a submission. Lucas immediately reacts by posting on the mat with his hand and walks to the side pulling the opponent’s leg down. In this scenario, the opponent is able to recompose and face Lucas. He once again tries to sweep Lucas, but this time, Lucas prevents it by placing his foot on the hips. This stops the opponent and then Lucas goes for the knee on belly.
