Professor Lucas Lepri demonstrates how to prevent an opponent from finishing the triangle submission by opening the triangle and going back to the opponent's closed guard. The opponent is playing the spider guard and shoots for the triangle submission on Lucas. As soon as the opponent locks his legs on top of Lucas, Lucas grips the same side collar of the arm that is inside the triangle to prevent him from crossing it over. The hips are now brought in and leaned on the opponent’s leg creating pressure. Lucas now brings his other hand inside the triangle as he keeps putting the pressure on the opponent. He is now able to open the triangle and stay on the opponent’s closed guard.
