Professor Lucas Lepri teaches how to get an armbar or bow and arrow choke after pulling to the closed guard. Lucas and the opponent both start with collar and sleeve controls. Lucas releases the grip on the sleeve so he can use that hand to break the opponent's grip on the collar. Lucas grips underneath the arm and while still maintaining the grip, he pulls the opponent's arm across over his own chest. The other hand is used to reach behind the opponent's back to grab the belt. From here, Lucas steps closer to the opponent so he can place his foot on the hip to pull to the closed guard. In this variation, the opponent defends by lifting his leg once on the mat to block Lucas’ hip. Lucas now places his foot on the opponent's hip and uses it to pivot as he comes up on his shoulder as if he is going to take the opponent’s back control. He releases the grip on the arm and uses his foot to spin the opponent to the side letting him get to the s mount position. From this position, Lucas can finish with an armbar or reaches for the collar to go to the bow and arrow choke.
